Yes!  Rovers Football Club Ltd. has been created to operate the League1 BC Women’s and Men’s teams.  The club has made up to 49% of it’s ownership stake in Rovers FC available for purchase by community investors. Every share you buy is the same as the shares held by the other owners. This is not a kickstarter or GoFundMe campaign. The club is offering a real piece of ownership.

Shares are being sold through FrontFundr.  Only Canadian residents can purchase shares and you have to be 18 years or older and complete the FrontFundr investor application process. Accredited investors who are not Canadian residents can also purchase shares. To purchase a share go to https://www.frontfundr.com/tssrovers and follow the prompts. The process works best on a laptop or desktop computer.

The Spirit of the Rovers Supporters Trust was started by five founding members to be the voice of Community Owners on the Rovers Football Club Board and to develop a spirit of community and inclusion around Rovers FC. The founding Board members were:

  • Chris Galloway
  • Robert Grenda
  • Aaryn Vivian
  • Paul Roche
  • Chris Corrigan

In 2020 Rovers Football Club reached an agreement with the Supporters Trust to exercise the votes of community owners through a Trustee, who would have a seat on the Rovers FC Board. Currently that Trustee is Chris Galloway. Depending on the amount of ownership purchased by the community, the Trust may appoint a second member to the Rovers FC Board.

As a community investor you will automatically become a member of the Spirit of the Rovers Supporters Trust. We will be reaching out to all members of the Trust after the March 9 2022 closing date to schedule our first meeting.

Shares are $265 and you can buy more than one. In fact there are various incentives for buying 2, 4 or 10 shares as and all of those are listed on the FrontFundr offering page.

Yes!  From the beginning, supporters and the club have worked together to raise money, sell advertising and sponsorships, write match day programs, offer free tickets to kids and engage in community projects.  Rovers Football Club is not simply two teams on the pitch, but a community movement to make soccer a key focus of good things.  The Trust can meet and organize working groups and committees to undertake some of these initiatives with the club or on our own, in the Spirit of the Rovers: inclusive, developmental and focused on good.

All the founding trust members of the Trust are also Swanguardians, and have been singing and cheering and making tifo and supporting our players through social media since the beginning. That doesn’t change. We will be there on game day, at the south end of Swangard and on away days as well, supporting our players once they pull on a Rovers shirt for the first time, no matter where they go on to play.

As a community investor in the club, you will become a part owner of Rovers Football Club and a member of the Spirit of the Rovers Supporters Trust. That Trust will exercise the collective voice of the community investors through 1 or 2 votes on the Rovers Football Club Board of Directors. The Trust is the voice of the community ownership block. At regular meetings of the Trust, community owners will appoint the Rovers Football Club Board representatives who will exercise the voice of the community owners on the Rovers FC Board.

The Rovers FC Board is a governance Board meaning that it will exercise votes on larger governance issues including capital decisions such as borrowing money, acquiring property or acquiring another team, or the sale of Rovers FC to another club for example. The Board does not make decisions about operations, player development, staffing or other soccer operations. That is left to the management team and the coaching staff of Rovers Football Club.
