Meet The Owners – Chris Galloway

Chris is one of the founding members of the Spirit of the Rovers Supporters Trust and is a massive football fan. He grew up in the UK supporting his local club Charlton Athletic and when he moved to Canada in 2006 he immediately bought a season ticket to watch the Whitecaps play at Swangard Stadium. Owning a small piece of a football club and getting back to Swanguard to watch Rovers play is a dream come true for Chris.

In his professional life, Chris has a background working in Finance, and is currently an independent consultant who spends most of his time working with credit unions and cooperatives. He believes increasing community-ownership is a path that will lead us to a more just and equitable society.

Chris is currently the Board Chair of his local food co-op on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, and recently served on the Board of Cooperatives First, a business development organization that is focused on increasing awareness and understanding of the co-op business model in rural and Indigenous communities across Western Canada. He has been lucky enough to spend time supporting and visiting cooperatives in Mongolia, Malawi, and in Mondragon, Spain, and in 2017 he graduated from St Mary’s University in Halifax, N.S. with a Master of Management: Cooperatives and Credit Unions.
